What children need for a good start at school

For around 38,000 children in Saxony, a new chapter in their lives will begin this Saturday (15 August). Starting school can be an exciting and proud moment, but it can also leave children feeling uncertain or overwhelmed. Children have to find their feet in a new environment, build relationships, and adjust to new rules and routines.

”Social and Emotional Development in Childhood” has been published

Social-emotional skills form the foundation for a happy, healthy, and successful life. Among other things, this book explores the following key questions: How do social and emotional skills develop during childhood? What role do different contexts (family, daycare, school, crisis situations, etc.) play in these developmental processes? And how can emotional and social development be effectively supported? Renowned researchers from German-speaking countries present current research findings, offer theoretical insights, and introduce practical approaches for promoting children’s social-emotional development.
